One Night of Work

cancelled due to lack of interest.

This was a remedial study hall, mostly for computer geeks, held every two weeks on Sundays in my apartment. We held thirteen ``successful'' Nights of Work, but for one or two of them I think I was the only one who came.

I think it's not working, so I've cancelled it.

I'm now the only geek left in my apartment, and believe it or not, this is fantastic. I've never been happier.

I stand by my original position that geeky work is something you need to do alone. You need vast amounts of time and self-motivation to get anywhere with this hobby, and you need them before you need to reach out and meet other geeks, drink vast amounts of liquor, go to conferences or monthly meetings, u.s.w.. However, I've found being around other geeks doesn't actually make it easier for me to work. Instead, it makes me angry and depressed and thinking I should have gotten a law degree instead like my little brother.

I'm a bit sad that I now have like eighty empty switchports and plenty of power strips and couches, and no one to use them, but so be it. Let's do something else, please.
